A Blooming Nine Patch pattern using up fabrics from my stash. The only fabrics purchased for this quilt were the 2 outer purples.

There are a lot of 'make it work' moments in this quilt. When I didn't have enough fabric for a round, I either pieced tiny scraps together or found a similar or contrasting fabric to use instead. I love the way the turquoise, lime and orange work near the other edges. They were inspired by the marbled fabric in the previous round.

'Fruit of the Bloom' won third place in its class at the 2013 San Mateo County Fair.

The Blooming Nine Patch pattern is found in 'Tradition with a Twist' by Blanche Young and Dalene Young Stone. Quilting pattern is 'Garden Party' block by One Song Needle Arts.
